Fernando Gouveia

Fernando was born on August 3th, 1999 in Cabo Frio, Brazil. As a junior he trained and competed at national tournaments in Brazil and also in international events, such as the Orange Bowl and the Copa Guga Kuerten. When reached the age of 15, as his family is Portuguese, he moved to Portugal in order to keep playing competitive tennis and follow his studies. Ranked # 19 in the country in men’s ranking and # 1 in the region in the 18 & under age group. In Portugal, he competed at national pro circuit and played numerous ITF Futures tournaments.

Meanwhile he graduated with the Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Science with the specialisation of Aquatic Fitness Instructor at University of Coimbra. He also played for four years in the university tennis team, where he was National Champion in 2018 and # 12 in the European Universities Tennis Championships.

Fernando has coached many junior players with the Brazilian coach Tiago Leivas, a current coach of Albert Ramos-Vinolas (# 45 ATP) and also at BTA in the last two years. He is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
