Injury Prevention: One of the Key Principles of Performance at Our Academy

At our Academy, we believe that athletic development goes far beyond tennis technique. A stronger, more resilient body allows players to train consistently, perform at a higher level, and reduce the risk of injuries throughout their careers.

This is why we have expanded our morning fitness program from one hour to one hour and a half, dedicating even more time to developing the physical qualities that support long-term performance and health.

Under the direction of our Fitness Director, Sergi Valldaura, injury prevention is not simply an additional component of the program. It is an essential pillar of our training philosophy. A well-designed prevention program not only reduces the likelihood of injuries, but also improves mobility, stability, functional strength, force production and neuromuscular control.

Our approach focuses on three key areas:

1. Shoulder Girdle and Upper Body Stability

The shoulder complex is heavily involved in every tennis stroke. Our prevention work emphasizes:

Scapular and shoulder stability

Prevention of tendinopathies and overuse injuries

Improved movement efficiency and control

A stable and well-functioning shoulder girdle helps players generate power while protecting one of the most demanding areas of the body.

2. Pelvic Girdle and Core Function

The pelvis serves as the central link between the upper and lower body. Our training focuses on:

Force generation and transmission

Core and pelvic stability

Lumbar spine protection

A strong and stable pelvic region allows players to transfer energy efficiently through the kinetic chain, improving performance while reducing stress on the lower back.

3. Feet and Ankles

Every movement on the tennis court starts from the ground up. For this reason, we place special emphasis on:

Balance and proprioception

Direction changes and movement efficiency

Ankle sprain prevention

Strong, reactive feet and ankles provide the foundation for speed, agility and safe movement on court.

Building Better Athletes

Our goal is not only to help players avoid injuries, but to create athletes who move better, recover faster and perform at their highest potential. By investing additional time in physical preparation and prevention, we are giving our players the tools they need for long-term success both on and off the court.

At our Academy, prevention and performance go hand in hand.
